about

'From Betty to Evie' is an updated digital re-issue of Simon Li's fourth CD 'From Beth to Evie', which followed his self-produced 2009 debut 'Place and Time', the 2011 self-titled follow up CDLP (updated versions of most of the songs from both 'Place and Time' and 'Simon Li' now re-issued via bandcamp as '2010 Sunset') and his 2013 'Nightfall' CDLP (co-produced with Goose Studios' Pete Doherty).
'From Betty to Evie' features ten songs and reaches into previously unchartered musical and lyrical territory in songs such as 'Whole Lotta Woman' and 'Faded Away', whilst also revisiting lyrical themes previously explored in songs such as 'Nowadays' and 'Cruel World'.
'From Betty to Evie' further demonstrated his skewed take on alt. country where he combines a modern/contemporary take on folk music, with elements of old-school country music and old-school punk/pre-punk era garage rock.
The ten songs which comprise 'From Betty to Evie' (and their constituent elements) were recorded at various locations; including Simon's 116 Studios in Sydney through 2015-2017 and 2020-2021, where Simon was aided and abetted by guest appearances from Graham Griffith (ex-Fifty Million Beers / Out of Nowhere / Hoola / Hokey Carmichaels), and Stephen "Colonel Steve" Frosoni (ex-Glen and Glenda / The Men from UNCLE).
A former resident of Melbourne; Simon is a product of that city’s Rock-n-Roll High School and his other credits include; Balkan Grill, Backyard Bandicoots, The Phringe Dwellers, Dave Favours & The Roadside Ashes, Lethal Mercenaries and Charlie Silky-Oak & The Maple Roses.
